2006:
This picture has not been alterred in any way. It was not taken as a black and white. My eyes saw that, so now your eyes do too.The birds, they flew in huge swarms between each tree, screaming in the wind, until they’d all land and come to a rest, the sky dead in their wake. There would be a tense pause, and then they’d start up again, looking like a plague and sounding like a terror.I stood under this tree, taken aback by how strange and scary and beautiful everything felt, watching. A few seconds after I took this picture, I put my camera down, and I realized that as profound as I felt, I was THIS CLOSE to getting shat on.
